DBA is excited to receive the 2019 Merit Award for Excellence in Historic Preservation for the Lockkeeper’s House from AIA VA! The jury noted that the “exterior, interior, and landscape are all well executed – it feels like welcoming back a lost treasure.”
DBA, serving as the Architect of Record and Historic Preservation Architect, is honored to have worked on this important historic structure with PWP Landscape Architects (the prime), Hensel Phelps (general contractor), 1200 AE (structural engineers), Henry Adams (MEP), Weidlinger Associates (civil engineer) and Claude R. Engle (lighting designer).
The Lockkeepers H
ouse is the oldest structure on the National Mall, and it’s a delight to now come upon it fully restore. The Lockkeeper’s House has great meaning to the DC community and the country and it now fittingly serves as a gateway to Constitution Gardens.
